The root of this common flower native to southeastern North America and northeastern Asia is a sweet and pungent medicine most often taken in tea, a capsule or as an extract. An antiseptic that promotes urination, hydrangea root can provide relief from rheumatism, problems caused by poor circulation of blood & lymph, bed wetting, bladder stones, and the backaches associated with kidney ailments.

 

Hydrangea root, chang shan, is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to address kidney weaknesses, improve the body s calcium intake, improve autoimmunity deficiencies, and reduce inflammation.
